New Year week forecast: cold with a Red Flag Warning

It's the first week of the New Year and we begin it with sunshine and breezy conditions.  Very dry air, with dewpoints in the teens to low 20s, along with windy conditions, NW winds at 20-to-30 mph,  has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning.  In other words, outdoor burning is not recommended.

Lots of sunshine yesterday warmed up our surface temperatures enough to keep the thermometer from plummeting below freezing this morning.  However, Tuesday morning and afternoon look to be our coldest temperatures this week.  Tomorrow morning's temps will likely drop into the low 20s...highs tomorrow in the low 40s.

Expect clear to partly cloudy skies through Friday with warmer temperatures each day.

At this point, the weekend brings overcast skies along with a slight chance of rainfall.
