How to exercise with your dog

How to exercise with your dog

By Kim Boatman

From The Dog Daily

The best workout partners never complain, bring unfailing energy to your exercise sessions and stick by your side rather than racing ahead or trailing behind. If it sounds like it would be tough to find someone to fit that description, it's time to consider a four-legged workout partner.

"For the most part, any dog can be a runner," says Lindsay Stordahl, a professional dog runner and walker who operates Run That Mutt in the Fargo-Moorhead area of North Dakota. Stordahl has covered more than 4,200 miles with clients' dogs. "People get too caught up over whether or not their dog can run. If you are not sure, then simply try."

Vacation with your dog on a budget

Vacation with your dog on a budget

From The Dog Daily

Not only is it possible to enjoy a fun vacation with your dog, but it's also easier than ever to do so while being frugal. Finding deals and ways to save doesn't need to be a laborious chore. With gas prices on the rise and vacations in the forecast, here are a few tips to keep your change spare and your dollars intact:

Plan a picnic.

Plan the route and pit stops with a fun picnic basket–style lunch for ravenous road warriors. Save on fast food costs and carry pooch snacks, cool water and a "paw-nik" basket of sandwiches, fruits and beverages of the human variety.

Research gas savings.

Use GasBuddy, or a similar gas price checker, on your mobile device to find the lowest price on gasoline in any designated city.

Alabama Spay/Neuter offering discounted spay services

Alabama Spay/Neuter offering discounted spay services

Alabama Spay/Neuter is teaming up with PetsMart Charities® to offer discounted spay services through the month of February. For $20, individual cat owners can have their female felines fixed by an Alabama Spay/Neuter veternarian.

According to the group's Facebook page, the charitable grant will cover 500 cats so they urge cat owners to book an appointment as soon as possible by calling 205-956-0012.

Alabama Spay/Neuter began offering "high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay/neutering" in 2008 as part of their mission to reduce the number of adoptable animals that are euthanized in Alabama shelters. The clinic serves 13 counties in central Alabama and also offers a mobile clinic.
