BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)-
As the mascot for the University of Alabama, elephants on T-shirts, hats and posters in this state are pretty common. But spotting real ones? Not so much.
Today was the exception, however, as a group of six circus elephants paraded down Birmingham streets near the BJCC. The lead elephant even showed some Crimson Tide pride by wearing an elephant-sized houndstooth hat in honor of Alabama's 15th national championship win.
At one point, the parade of pachyderms stopped at an intersection on 22nd Street North for a photo opp, and the lead elephant put his left foot on top of a football while holding an Alabama flag with his trunk.

The elephants are part of the Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey Circus, which arrived in Birmingham Wednesday morning. The BJCC will host the circus from Jan. 24-Jan. 27. Visit www.ringling.com for show times and ticket information.
