TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC)- In less than a month the Crimson Tide will face Notre Dame's Fighting Irish for the BCS Championship.
In preparation of that day, the mayors of each team's town made a friendly, if charitable, wager. If Alabama wins South Bend Mayor Pete Buddha-Judge will make a donation to the City of Tuscaloosa Storm Recovery Fund plus send a box of chocolates.
If Notre Dame wins Mayor Walt Maddox will make a donation to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint Joseph County plus send a slab of Dreamland ribs.
"He called me and said let's do something, let's put Tuscaloosa and South Bend out there to let people know about. We thought a good friendly wager, one which highlighted a local delicacy so to speak and also put some money towards charities," Maddox said.
