Man charged with murder in Tuscaloosa shooting | News
TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC)- A man has been charged with murder in connection to a shooting that happened Sunday night in Tuscaloosa.
Homicide investigators responded to a shooting call around 11 p.m. and found the victim, Charles Edward Thomas Jr., 22, lying on the ground in the 700 block of 31st Avenue. Thomas suffered from a single gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the DCH ER in Tuscaloosa where he died from his injuries.
Investigators found the suspected shooter, Leeric Smith, 38, after he checked into a hospital in Northport. Smith suffered from a gunshot wound to his hand.
After the investigators spoke with the suspect and witnesses to the shooting, they charged Smith with murder, according to Captain Loyd Baker with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
