An auction in Tuscaloosa held the day after the April 27 tornado anniversary will benefit the rebuilding of tornado-damaged homes.  Proceeds from the Building Hope Auction will go to Habitat Tuscaloosa, raising funds for Nick's Kids and the 14th house being built through their "14 for 14" initiative.

The auction will be held at the University Club at 421 Queen City Avenue at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $50, which covers heavy hors d’oeuvres, a drink ticket and entertainment by local group Bertea.

The silent auction begins at 7 p.m. and the live auction begins at 8:15 p.m.

Some of the items for auction include:

  • Trips to Spain, Scotland, Ireland, Pinehurst, Orange Beach, Cayman Islands, cabins in the woods, and an African safari
  • Experiences like being a sports caster or weather anchor for a day on WVUA, tickets for Tuscaloosa theater groups, lunch with Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox, VIP passes to the Schaeffer Crawfish Boil, in-home dinner from the sous chef at Evangeline’s, the chance to attend a NY Yankees game as well as batting practice and a meet and greet
  • Luxury items such as jewelry, Coach bags, oriental rugs, art books and original art
  • Sports paraphernalia including signed items from Nick Saban, Joe Namath, Andruw Jones, and David Robertson; sharing the Crimson Tide’s season home opener with Ms. Terry; tickets to Nick @ Noon, the Hey! Nick radio show and a stadium tour; and a “NY state of mind” weekend with tickets for the Yankees and Giants games
