Absolutely Alabama: Little River Canyon Center

In this week's Absolutely Alabama, Fred takes a tour of the state and enjoys the early autumn colors all in one stop: the new Little River Canyon Center in DeKalb County. The center is hosting a new exhibit from the Alabama Folklife Association titled "Alabama in the Making."

The exhibit features a variety of Alabama's regions, folk traditions, stories and music.

Area museums offer free admission on Museum Day Live 2012

Area museums offer free admission on Museum Day Live 2012

In partnership with Smithsonian Museum, 17 Alabama museums will be offering free admission for two Sept. 29, 2012.

The event is a celebration of the spirit of the Smithsonian family of museums in Washington, D.C., which offer free admission every day.

Free admission is limited to two person per household. To gain admission to the museum of your choice, you must register for a Museum Day Live ticket at http://www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/ticket/. Simply fill in your information and choose the museum you'd like to visit.

Movie review: Lawless

Mercer Morrison is back with a new Movie Madness review. This week he's talking about "Lawless," starring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBoeuf, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman.

The movie follows the Bondurant brothers who distill moonshine during Prohibition.

Avett Brothers to perform Oct. 11 in Tuscaloosa

The Avett Brothers will perform in Tuscaloosa this October. They have a concert scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.

Special guest Grace Potter & The Nocturnals will also perform at the concert, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse coming to Tuscaloosa Amphitheater

Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse will play at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in October. Alabama Shakes will also perform during the show.

The concert is set for Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. All seats are reserved and ticket prices range from $134.25 to $73.75 to $43.75.
