Thanks to our generous viewers, the FOX6 and Salvation Army H2O 4 OKC water drive is a success! Your donations have filled two tractor trailers with water that will head to those in need.

At this time, we have reached our capacity and will not be able to accomodate more donations. Thank you to everyone who donated! If you have water that is already bought, we suggest contacting your local food bank, homeless shelter or womens shelter and ask if they need water.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- FOX6 WBRC and the Salvation Army are giving you a chance to help storm survivors in the Oklahoma City area.

We are collecting bottled water.

Look for our collection truck at Colonial Brookwood Village on the Highway 280 / Macy's side of the building.

You can donate bottled water beginning at 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday. We will then return Wednesday at 6 a.m. and stay until the truck is full.

The truck will then head to a staging area in Mississippi before heading on to Oklahoma.

Salvation Army spokesperson Brian Wallace says that bottled water was handed out to Alabamians five months after April 27 and leftover donations went immediately to Joplin, Missouri when they were hit by a tornado in the summer of 2011.

Help us quickly meet this basic, urgent need... and thank you!

NORTHPORT, AL (WBRC)- Five people died in two separate car crashes in Greene County this month. That's why Sheriff Jonathan Benison is pleading with West Alabama drivers to buckle up.

"I would like to encourage the loved ones, to tell their loved ones to buckle up so we can save lives," Benison said to a room full of listeners on Monday.

Benison told fellow officers at the 'Click it or Ticket' meeting that those five deaths are more than the four people who died in crashes there all of last year. Last week, eight people were inside an SUV before it left the road and hit a tree.

"Some of those were not properly restrained," Benison mentioned. Four of them died.

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC)- One of the oldest buildings on the University of Alabama campus is almost history.

A backhoe continued tearing down the Kilgore House on campus Friday. The house was originally built in 1890 at Bryce Hospital. Several years later, the first female UA students lived there.

A buyer backed out of purchasing the house after realizing it would be too expensive to move. The university is making room for a new student pavilion with a dining area.
